THE BIG FIVE
by Dr. George M. Wolverton, M.D. Heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease claim the lives of nine out of ten Americans each year. However, these statistics could be much different. I believe the majority of these deaths could be prevented if people implemented several significant lifestyle changes, which I like to refer to as The Big Five.
1. Get your body alkaline. An important step in keeping your overall body pH alkaline is to avoid eating foods that tend to make the body acidic. Problematic foods include white sugar, white flour, and foods that begin with the letter “c” (like cookies, cokes, chocolate, caffeine, and “c’alcohol”). For more information and suggestions on eating according to an alkalarian diet, read The pH Miracle, by Dr. Robert O. Young. In addition, ask at my office about my topic sheet on alkalinity.
2. Eat organically and avoid pesticides and petrochemicals. Eating organically grown foods minimizes the chemical toxins we are putting into our bodies. Organic foods also tend to contain more of the phytonutrients we need, allowing all three trillion biochemical exchanges in each cell to function properly.
3. Have Chelation Therapy. Chelation Therapy is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure performed in my office. In this therapy, EDTA is dripped into a patient’s bloodstream through an I.V. during a 1-1/2 hour period. I have chelated thousands of people through the years in conjunction with a wellness plan and have seen this therapy slow or even reverse a variety of health problems, in addition to helping patients generally feel better.
4. Do aerobic exercise daily. Aerobic exercise increases the heart rate through moderate physical activity, using oxygen to produce energy in the muscle. The exercise should be continuous and performed to the extent of breathlessness, but not so breathless that you cannot carry on a conversation. Exercise can be in the form of a walk, jog, swim, bicycle ride, treadmill exercise, Jazzercise, calisthenics, or other activity.
5. Take Juice Plus supplements. I suggest that you seriously consider implementing The Big Five into your personal wellness program. I have seen these suggestions improve the quality and length of many lives, and I hope they will continue to help others as well. |
